Understanding Immune System Support

All of our birds are going to be exposed to germs at some time or another. While good hygiene can reduce this, the bird's natural defence mechanisms are critical to maintaining good health. So the immune system is probably the most important weapon we have against viral, bacterial and fungal infections. Sadly it is probably the least recognised option in aviculture.

Common Symptoms of illness

As with all problems, the experienced bird keeper will usually spot early symptoms of mental or physical illness by changes in behaviour, nature or habits. This could be as simple as a usually friendly bird attacking for no reason, feather plucking or the bird which won't come when called as normal and just wants to be left alone in its cage.
